The cast looks spectacular, and I could see nominations in store for all of the leads (Streep in particular). However, I'm less certain now about its Best Picture/Director prospects now: it looks like too much of a character piece. We'll need to see what the critics say on this one.
The trailer is OK, I love the resemblance to Notes on a Scandal's Music. Meryl Streep's Oscar to loose? Possible. Viola Davis fantastic, Hoffman OK, Adams, Next Time...
Definitely a contender on the acting front. The play (and movie) deals with the ever so interesting concept of doubt. It will certainly make people think, so perhaps that will help it out in the best picture area. However, so many other potentially great films are coming out that it's hard to say which will showcase this year's best pic race. We shall see...
I think this will be the one to beat come Oscar time...I know I'm in the minority, but it looks to be just brilliant. I'm pulling for Winslet to win, but Streep could nab another statue.
Great line when she says "You will lose." Awesome stuff.
I don't see where everyone's coming from with the Viola Davis support. She's hardly in the trailer. I think Amy Adams will get the nod because they snubbed her for "Enchanted" last year.
Overall, one of the best trailers this year along with "Australia" "The Dark Knight" "Wall-E" and "TCOBB"
Streep is set to grab her 15th nomination. She looks great in this film, she already has the Oscar's love all she needed know was a performance like the one that is showed in this trailer. Hoffman and Adams also look very well. But I disagree I see Best Picture potential, but I do agree that it does look a lot like a character piece which may hurt its chances.
Jordan if you know the play you would know that Viola's character steals the show and Amy looks like she's playing the same simple minded character she always plays so better luck next time.
the whole cast looks excellent! however i don't think it looks like best pic material though, i expect acting praise all around though
ReplyDeleteEvery cast member looks to be great. especially streep.

ReplyDeleteNot the least bit impressed. Streep looks weak while Hoffman looks incredible and wtf is up with that one dutch angle...?

Looks great. Very much an acting showcase like Frost/Nixon. The play was amazing, and this trailer gives me hope that it will translate well.

ReplyDeletelooks like it's gonna make some noise in the acting slots at the very least, but pic depends on how other things turn out
