Sarah Michelle Gellar has been in my predictions since I first saw the trailer. I feel the Anne Hathaway vibe, and when I told some that I felt Anne Hathaway had a chance to get nominated for "Rachel Getting Married" I got laughed at. Haha.
It just depends on who picks up the film. Focus Features has been rumored, but Sony Pictures Classics has also... Both are very Oscar-ish distributors.
Honestly, this trailer isn't showing me much that makes me think Oscar, not in regards to Gellar's performance any way. In fact, it tells me very little about her performance - anyone can look good on screen and fit into the appearance of the character, but can they speak and allow that character to transcend the screen to the audience? I gotta say she's not impressing me in this based on the trailer, but I am prepared to be proven wrong. Looks very moody, somewhat European art house, and could pick up some noms, particularly for direction (or cinematography?).
Looks actually kinda good. Go Gellar.
ReplyDeleteI never liked Gellar before, but she looks incredible here. I'm actually going to start predicting her.
