Yeah, I think it's pretty certain Jason Reitman will win this Oscar. Not having The Hurt Locker be up against Inglourious Basterds makes this race a head-scratcher still. I'm still leaning towards Basterds, but I do think Boal could still take it.
This is so tough to call. Bigelow could not talk more wonders about Boal and without the writing award, THL may only get three Oscars. But it seems so unlikely that after all the sudden love for Tarantino, that they would send him home empty handed on the night. Very, very hard to call.
Thank goodness Reitman's getting a Gold Statue. Hopefully in the years to come we'll see him hold one for direction.
I love The Hurt Locker, but I would never, in good conscience, vote for it as Best Original Screenplay. There are too many research flaws in the script for it to deserve the award.

Agreed, though I lean slightly more towards Boal in Screenplay.
