I can't say anything about his feature work (since I haven't seen "Hostel", "Cabin Fever" or "Hostel 2"), but Roth is definitely talented, as evidenced by the "Thanksgiving" trailer, in addition to "Nation's Pride"...
He's what I call a "moments" director. His films have interesting ideas and interesting moments, but he hasn't done the complete package yet. He will get there eventually though, and I do look forward to that, since I've found things to like in his works, more so than many other established filmmakers.
I have to say I really enjoyed Cabin Fever. Hostel did not do much for me, but its sequel did. However, and you may call me lame for this, I am still trying to recover from watching Paranormal Activity on the weekend, so am kinda not looking to be seeing The Last Exorcism soon. :-)
Wow, The Last Exorcism is a striking poster. That might be an interesting...oh wait, Eli Roth? I'll pass, thanks.
ReplyDeleteWell, I think Eli Roth has some talent, he just hasn't put it all together yet...and he's just a producer on this.
