Yup, according to
Collider:
Colin Farrell and Marion Cotillard have come on board David Cronenberg’s next film, Cosmopolis, based on Don DeLillo’s 2003 novel of the same name. Here’s how Variety describes the film: “The thriller follows a multimillionaire on a 24-hour odyssey across Manhattan. Farrell will play the asset manager who loses all his wealth over the course of one day. Cotillard will play his wife.” I think it goes from being a thriller to a comedy if you just add the sad trombone sound cue when Farrell loses all the guy’s money (although most films become comedies when you bring in sad trombone). Cosmopolis will follow-up Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method, which starts shooting this month in Germany and stars Keira Knightley and Viggo Mortensen.
It’s been a busy week for Farrell. Yesterday, we reported that he had been cast in Craig Gillespie’s remake of Fright Night and he’s also been cast in Seth Gordon’s dark comedy Horrible Bosses.
-I like this project a lot...thoughts?
I think Farrell has proved himself to be a great actor with his roles in Tigerland, Hart's War, Minority Report, Phone Booth, Intermission, A Home at the End of the World, The New World, Cassandra's Dream, and his bit in Crazy Heart.
ReplyDeleteI also thought he was the best Actor of 2008 with In Bruges and was undeniably ripped off by not recieving and Oscar Nomination for it (at least the Golden Globes took notice with his surprise win). On a side not In Bruges was also the best of 2008 and one of the best of the decade.
Here's to still looking forward to the day Farrell is finally an Oscar nominee cause he really deserves to be in the race sooner rather than later.
I'm just worried that Marion Cotillar's talent will trump his...
ReplyDeleteGreat pair anyway
Ben- Good points sir.
ReplyDeleteNigel- Odd concern.
ReplyDeleteI am completely with Ben on this. I love Farrell and really hope he continues to be successful and eventually gets to Oscar.
ReplyDeleteWe shall see...
