More Christopher Nolan news, but this time it's not so positive. According to Total Film, linking to a “trusted source at Batman-on-Film”, Christopher Nolan might not be involved in the next Batman film. Here's a bit of the transcript from the site:
The death of Heath Ledger in January of 2008 rocked Mr. Nolan hard. So hard that Chris was convinced that TDK was going to be it for him and Batman on film.
The Joker was going to return in BATMAN 3.
The Joker was going to return in BATMAN 3.
“You are correct in reporting that he is developing story ideas with [Jonathan Nolan] and David Goyer, but it will be until AT LEAST 2012 before we see the Caped Crusader back [in theaters]. And that is only an EARLY ESTIMATE at best right now. They are even saying it might not be until 2013.”
Basically, the BATMAN film franchise is back to square one. As far as a story or a BATMAN 3, “Right now, there is none,” says our guy.
Luckily, it's just a rumor, but if it turns out to be true, do you want them to move forward with a different director or end the franchise with the Dark Knight? (Of course the powers that be will move forward with or w/o Nolan, but I'm interested to see how people feel about this).
rumors are just that...rumors
ReplyDeletewaaaay too early to have anything concrete in relation to Batman 3
ReplyDeletewait till next summer when press starts for Inception.
ReplyDeleteagreed, far too early for anything other than speculation, but if there had to be a new director (and this is from someone perfectly happy for things to have ended with TDK), and the writing was still the same, I'd go with either David Fincher, Michael Mann, Duncan Jones, Darren Aronofsky, Frank Darabount, or Paul Greengrass
ReplyDeleteI'd rather them just conclude the series. Although I appreciate each director you named, I know their visions are slightly different. If either of those directors took over, I'd rather them start from scratch.
ReplyDeleteWhat? No love for Joel Schumacher? Haha.
