It has come to my attention, There Will Be Blood, Into the Wild, and Enchanted are ineligible for Original Score.
This is sucky news especially for Blood & Wild which both had amazing music; both adding to their films moods respectively.
Final predictions are over at my blog and over at The Igloo. Make sure you're up tomorrow at 8:30ET for the nominations. It's going to be nerve racking the whole time, I'm sure.
So gay of the Academy, who, ever since Alan Menken began monopolizing this category, has set restrictions such as just to make sure that HE can't win. They did a similar thing back in 2002 when they ruled Howard Shore's score of "The Two Towers" ineligible because it was a sequel...of course, there was an uproar, and the next year they got rid of it, and Shore won for "The Return of the King."
So unfortunate for Greenwood as well, who was picked to win by many. I guess this gurantees a shoe-in for Dario Marianelli and "Atonement"
That's ridiculous. Johnny Greenwood's score was probably one of the best I've ever heard out of pure experimentation and moodiness. I'm so sick of the conventional movie score, and when a fresh, unconventional one comes out, it's disqualified.
Who would you like to see be the main villain in the next Batman film?
