I received an email today pointing me towards a grassroots campain for the film in terms of awards buzz (http://www.darkcampaign.com/). It really does work as a great FYC ad, and it shows just how popular this film is with people. One of the biggest things we've been looking for is to see if this film ends up being rewarded with a nomination or not, and movements like this one only point it in the right direction.
-Do you think this helps TDK at all? And just to ask one more time...do you think The Dark Knight will get a Best Picture nomination?
yes
ReplyDeletei still think it's more likely than not, but in no way a lock till we see some precursor love, so to speak
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not a lock yet, but at this point it's in my top five, and I can easily see it happening.
ReplyDeleteI think it is essentially a lock, along with Heath Ledger. Christopher Nolan's nomination is the one thing of the three big awards it is up for that has me worried. As some people pointed out a while back, I feel almost as if they are going to either nominate the film or Chris Nolan, not both. I think that its very likely that both will get nominated, but Nolan right now is not as much of a lock a the Best Pic and Supporting Actor noms are. My one big fear is inner competition form Warner Bros., in the form of Gran Torino. I feel almost as if WB may have shot themselves in the foot by releasing and promoting both for oscar consideration, because if they were really serious about getting The Dark Knight nominated, they would have simply gone for actor with Gran Torino. We will just have to see how Clint's film turns out (no early reviews so far if I'm correct, because if the reviews for it are anything like that of Changeling, Gran Torino may drop off like all the other former contenders so far have.
ReplyDeleteIt may not be a lock yet but i sincerely belive it will happen. I know at least 4 statuettes will go to TDK in Oscar Knight.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why people are screaming for the Academy to nominate it when Doubt, Revolutionary Road, Benjamin Button and Frost/Nixon haven't even come out yet. I bet half those people haven't seen Rachel Getting Married, Milk or Slumdog Millionaire either. I don't feel sorry for these poor, ground-breaking comic films not getting attention from those stodgy traditionalists, as that website seems to think. I feel sorry for movies like Wendy and Lucy, Happy-Go-Lucky and The Visitor that those blind Dark Kinght worshippers will never go see.
ReplyDeleteI'm not screaming about it in any way, and as someone who has in fact seen The Visitor (not a huge fan though) and eagerly anticipating Wendy and Lucy, I think that there's a place for all types of film in terms of the Academy if they're good enough
