-overall, it seems like a decent crop, with Frozen River leading the way with 7 nominations. Both Rachel Getting Married and Ballast were right behind with 6. What do you guys think of the nominees?
wow, they're not up anywhere else but on the spirit awards website, good job with the scoop of sorts...
ReplyDeleteand the nominations please me for the most part, though I would have figured The Wrestler and Milk would be bigger, though mentions for The Hurt Locker, Wendy and Lucy, and The Signal make up for it!
ReplyDeletethanks, and yes, there's no real glaring omissions that I can see right now, but it's early lol
ReplyDeleteGlad to see Synecdoche, New York (one of the best films I've seen in years) getting some notice. I doubt it'll transfer into Oscar love, but at least someone is noticing.
ReplyDeleteJust out of curiousity, what about Slumdog Millionaire? I thought it was an indie because it won all of those BIFAs. Is there any reason it didn't qualify for the spirits?
ReplyDeleteAnd I am glad to see some love for Synecdoche as well. Definitely not Kaufman's best, but a great movie nontheless. I saw it about a week ago and I still can't stop thinking about it and trying to work it out in my head. I need to see it again.
it didn't qualify for one reason or another I think
