I keep waiting for something to push me from being cautiously optimistic to downright excited for this project, but so far nothing has really jumped out at me. It looks decent, and I'll probably see it, but I feel more indifferent to its success than anything else.
i'm sorry, did i see a young cyclops? i agree it looks better than the first trailer. However (and this may annoy others) i don't think any of the xmen films have been particularly faithful at all. I guess i'll enjoy this on the same level as i did transformers.
Actually, I'll go as far as to say that the first three X-Men films were pretty average, bordering on mediocre, with only a handful of strong performances to keep them going. Maybe it's just me, but I've never been a fan. Probably why I'm only passingly interested in this one.
And yes, that's a young Cyclops. Not sure how that'll work in terms of continuity, but then Sabertooth seems to have a much bigger role here, even though there wasn't much recognition between him and Wolverine in the first film. Either Wolverine gets hit on the head at the end and forgets everything that happens here, or we're going to run into prequel errors bordering on Star Wars level failure.
This trailer brought me closer to being excited than the others. However, the old guy as the "mentor" was a bit too "Blade" for me; the helicopter scene was a bit too "Mission: Impossible", and something about cradling the lover of his life while screaming into the sky (or carrying her in his arms to the water's edge) was just a wee bit too "been there, done that" for my liking. How many more "mutant" films is Hollywood going to churn out before the audience goes "Meh"?
Wolverine has always been my favorite X-men character, so I personally think any movie about him looks amazing. I don't know how seriously I can take Ryan Reynolds as a action hero, but I'm hoping he doesn't dissapoint. I will be there openening night.
Who would you like to see be the main villain in the next Batman film?
