The year in Quotes...

Joey here...just wondering what quotes you guys liked from the films this year. Doesn't have to be an Oscar nominated flick (though they're more than welcome too...my pick is from one), just whatever quote from a movie tickled you or made you feel good. It can be from something like Knocked Up or Superbad or Grindhouse all the way to American Gangster or Into the Wild

my choice is actually from Juno...but not the one that most people will be expecting. The quote I chose just really made me fall even more in love with the movie than I already was (i've now seen it 5 times, the most of any film this year). If you've seen the movie, you'll recognize the quote, and if you haven't seen the movie...go now!!

This is my favorite quote of the year:

Juno MacGuff: It ended with a chair....

Now, your turns!

  1. My favorite movie quote was "I drink your milkshake!" from TWBB. Such an incredible scene. I've seen Juno twice, and I want it to be on dvd soon! But I saw Sweeney Todd 8 times in theatres and plan on going again tonight =]

  2. "Call it, friendo."

To be fair, this is only in the trailer for "No Country for Old Men," but with few other potential exceptions("You can't stop what's coming," "I'm a pimp, and pimps don't commit suicide," and "Will you validate my parking ticket?"), it's hard to think of a more memorable quote from the films of 2007.

  3. neo- Also a great quote....aside from Juno, the movies i saw most this year was Knocked Up, Superbad, Into the Wild, No Country for Old Men, Zodiac, Once, and Sweeney Todd

edz- The Southland Tales quote is a rather good one, but too few people have seen it...and almost anything Bardem's character says is iconic just because of how great a character he is

  4. My favorite line from No Country wasn't delivered by Bardem but by Tommy Lee Jones

And then I woke up. -- Ed Tom Bell

Something about that scene and Jones' amazing description of his dream was very unnerving. It solidified No Country as one of the the Coens' great films.

My other favorite quote is from The Host.

The Han River is very broad, Mr. Kim. Let's try to be broad-minded about this. -- U.S. official

  5. I'm gonna punch that Paulie Bleaker in the weiner (Juno)

I also agree with the Ed Tom Bell line, but add to that the rest of that monolouge...it was so beautiful and poetic. Perfect end to the year's perfect film

  6. Although Sweeney Todd was my favorite film of the year (and what should have been nominated for best pic and director over Michael Clayton), you can't really quote it. The only way to quote it would be to quote an entire song lol.

  10. Non, rien de rien... Non, je ne regrette rien...

  11. "I drink your milkshake!" (TWBB)

"Put it anywhere, not your pocket. Then it'll get mixed up with the rest of your change and become just a coin. Which it is." (NCFOM)

"Jesus Herald Christ on rubber crutches, Bobby!" (Zodiac)

And, not technically a quote, but the gesture Viggo Mortensen makes in Eastern Promises where he shoves his fingers into his throat and points at Anna's uncle get my vote for the coolest hand gesture in movie history.

  12. If the rule you followed led you to this, then what good was the rule?

  13. Brenda (from Juno): Yeah? I am a nail technician, lets stick with what we are good at...

  14. "aww, hells bells, they even shot the dog!"
    No Country

"I'm not the guy you kill. I'm the guy you buy! Are you so fucking blind that you don't even see what I am? I sold out Arthur for 80 grand. I'm your easiest problem and you're gonna kill me?"
    Michael Clayton

"I am Shiva, the god of death. "
    Michael Clayton

"Man who hires Wells: [about Chigurh] Just how dangerous is he?

Carson Wells: Compared to what? The bubonic plague?"
    No Country

  15. "i have abandoned my child!" TWBB

    "Call It" No Country

"Did you hear Juno is pregnant like our parents and teachers. And did you hear its yours" Juno

"Thanks Robin Williams's knuckles" knocked up

  16. "I've abandoned my child! I've abandoned my child!! I've abandoned my boy!!!" from There Will Be Blood was really powerful. The milkshake line is awesome too, probably will go down as the movie's most oft-quoted line.

Tommy Lee Jones' entire opening monologue in No Country for Old Men is certainly noteworthy as well.

My favorite lines from Superbad (without a doubt the funniest movie of the year):

Seth: Well Jules, the thing about my back is that it's located on my cock!

Officer Slater: (mimicking the partiers) Oh no, it's the cops!

I never wanted to be away from her...
