The Dark Knight Revisited

The chances of the The Dark Knight receiving a nomination seem to grow by the weekend. Some of the movies that we expected to compete are receiving terrible reviews (Changeling, Body of Lies, and Blindness); Some are getting push backed (Soloist, and the Road); and the decent films are not receiving as much buzz as the Dark Knight (Rachel Getting Married, Happy-Go-Lucky, The Wrestler). If the month of October is any indicator, the Dark Knight remains the picture to beat. Obviously, it is too soon for certainty, considering there are major contenders that have yet to be seen. But with the re-release, the Dark Knight looks like it is in prime position to show why it should get a nomination. As the trees continue to fall, there is always one that grows stronger. The Dark Knight is the tree that continue to grow. Let's see if any of the other trees continue to fall.

  1. I´m desagree and is not true that Changeling is receiving terrible reviews. May be only is not the best Eastwood movie or what we expected…
I still hope Wall-e in the Best Motion Picture category…and Changeling…jaja

    Please Update the predictions...

So far, the reviews have been really mixed. When I think of Best Pic nominees, good reviews are reviews that aggregate around 80 % or above. Even a movie around 75 % can be worth considering. But, if you are in the 50s, then I consider that terrible. That's not to say that the movie is God awful, but the divisiveness of the reviews will only hurt the Changeling's chances of receiving a nod. At this point, if the reviews continue to stay around 50%, then its chances of receiving a nod are slim to none.

  3. Yes, that is true, but there are only 19 reviews counted...

  4. 19 is a fairly good amount. I don't see it improving to anything in the 80s. If there were only five reviews, then maybe. But, the amount (and avg rating) indicate that this film will probably stay around the 50-60 mark. Again, it might be a decent film, but the critics initially dont think so.

  5. WALL-E ought to be in there, but I don't see it happening. I agree that Dark Knight is turning into a lock. Frost/Nixon always seemed like strictly an acting award vehicle to me. The Wrestler and Slumdog Millionaire are definitely creeping toward claiming their spots. Milk looks the most promising to me out of the real unknowns, but you never know what you're going to get from Van Sant. My gut says Australia disappoints, and out of Doubt, Benjamin Button, Revolutionary Road, Defiance, etc. you'll probably find your remaining top tier candidates.

  6. I agree Rich, MILK seems the most promising. I figured Slumdog or the Wrestler (maybe both) will be there. My gut is telling both Curious Case and Revolutionary Road will make it, along with the Dark Knight.

    MILK
    Slumdog or Wrestler
    Dark Knight
    Revolutionary Road or Curious Case

  8. Right now, its looking more and more like The Dark Knight is going to be this year's Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Here's what I see making the shortlist come January

    The Dark Knight
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
    Milk
    Revolutionary Road
The Road (I still think it will be released in December)

  9. Dark Knight is epic, frightening, unforgettable, unstoppable, and every inch a classic Batman trial, brought to life with disquieting, mouth-slashing sincerity. I saw it 2 times but want to see it more & more. You can watch full movie from the link below. So follow the link and Download Free The Dark Knight Movie.
