The movie doesn't look like it will be all that great. I can't see a best picture nomination in its future, but Clint looks excellent in the trailer. I wouldn't be surprised if he got an acting nod. I think for best picture and director, Changeling has a better shot.
Well to be honest I like this film better than Changeling. I am not really seeing what others are with that film. This looks more like the type of film that is similar to his previous Oscar win Million Dollar Baby. It may have a better shot than Changeling I don't know if people have seen rotten tomato where it is considered rotten thus far.
Wow I'm really surprised! I really didn't expect much of Gran Torino, but this trailer got me really excited! Plus Clint looks quite good in it. I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes the last minute dark horse that gets into the awards season, a la Million Dolar Baby, although probably not as successfully (can't see it beating Benjamin Button as of now. But wouldn't be at surprised at a best actor nom for clint!
To be honest, I wasn't completely taken in by the trailer. It made the movie seem really one note and formulaic. But then I heard from some people that there might be an unexpected element in the movie to make it something special (like MDB). Now I am interested, and knowing Clint, he's so good that even his failures are good films to watch.
Looks a bit better than Changeling. I like the concept more. However, it seems like ever since Eastwood started making two movies a year with release dates close to each other, they just aren't up to par with his previous work like Mystic River and Unforgiven. Changeling kinda flopped critically, with the main praise going to the acting, but the overall film is apparently just too oscar-y and conventional. This looks a bit more interesting and I'm glad to see Eastwood acting again.
Who would you like to see be the main villain in the next Batman film?
