Who else should we spotlight in the Under the Circuit series?
As you no doubt see on the Main Page (but in case you missed it), Sam Rockwell is our latest subject for the Under the Circuit series of articles (the latest article on Rockwell can be found here), following in the footsteps of Michael Keaton (here), John Cusack (here), and Jim Carrey (here). As we move forward, look for an upcoming piece on Mark Ruffalo, among others, but who else would you like to see get featured in this series?

'Say Anything' turns 20...
The Los Angeles Times has a great article on the anniversary for this classic film, so I figured I'd link to it here. It's also one of my favorite films, from one of my favorite directors, starring one of my favorite actors, so I had to recognize it a little (it even has one of my favorite tag lines: "To know Lloyd Dobler is to love him. Diane Court is about to know Lloyd Dobler.").-What did you think of 'Say Anything'?

It's another rough week when it comes to DVD releases...
Unfortunately, this is another week when nothing particularly amazing comes out on DVD, but as always, there are things, regardless of quality, and luckily my PICK OF THE WEEK this year is a decent piece of genre film-making. It's:[REC]
This Spanish horror film was remade into Quarantine last year, but this original feature is much better, tenser, scarier, and above all else, more worth your time. It's a solid POV horror flick that you won't be disappointed in.
-Also out this week of even a little quality is the Dennis Quaid suspense flick Horsemen, which all but skipped theaters, and while it isn't fantastic, it isn't terrible either. There's also the period romance The Edge of Love, which is fairly average, and the HBO movie Grey Gardens, which was ok, but nothing more.
-Out this week of considerably less quality is The Haunting in Connecticut, which haunted me for all the wrong reasons, and the Direct-To-DVD Van Wilder: Freshman Year, which the less said about that flick, the better.
-Again, I'll offer up a few films for my Vintage pick in order to soften the blow of a lack of good films to pick up. We'll go with a John Cusack theme this week (for no real reason except that I'm a fan), and here are a few films of his that not everyone has seen, but are real good: The Sure Thing, Better Off Dead, City Hall, The Ice Harvest, Martian Child, and Grace is Gone. The latter film especially features an Oscar worthy performance by him, so check it out.
-What will you be watching on DVD this week?

"2012" Trailer Plays Like A Parody Of Disaster Movies
-I love how hilariously bad this looks. Danny Glover as the president? John Cusack as the skeptical yet caring
father? Chiwetel Ejiofor and Oliver Platt bickering about various moral dilemmas from the safety of a boat that
appears to crash at the end of the trailer? Buildings crashing while decidedly not obeying the laws of physics?
This has everything. I really hope that Woody Harrelson plays some kind of crazy guy who foresees the signs
and tries to warn everyone. Just to complete the cycle of cliche. I can't wait to see this so I can tear it a new
asshole in the reviews. How bout you guys?
P.S. Oh wow, he totally does!

Chevy Chase joins John Cusack in a "Hot Tub"!
Kinky, right? Actually, it's just more casting for Cusack's next comedy, via this in The Hollywood Reporter:In an odd bit of symbolism, the Chevy Chase resurgence is leading him back in time.
The comedy vet is now taking a dip in UA's time-travel comedy "Hot Tub Time Machine," with John Cusack and Rob Corddry. The Steve Pink-directed, Josh Heald-scripted film follows a bunch of unsatisfied guys who get thrown back to their younger days in 1987 via their Jacuzzi.
Chase plays a mysterious repairman who dispenses pearls of wisdom and may or may not be behind the metaphysical road trip. The film is shooting in Vancouver and is scheduled for a February release.
The "Saturday Night Live" alum, who toplined a string of classic 1980s comedies, is enjoying something of a comeback. Chase appeared in a recent arc on NBC's "Chuck," and nabbed a role in the Polish brothers' Tribeca film "Stay Cool."
Chase, repped by Fortitude and Kritzer Levine Wilkins Entertainment, also has a starring role on NBC's new series "Community," in which he plays a community college student carrying more divorces than classes.
He is also considering a new script for the Weinstein Co. that would see him reprise his highly quotable role as investigative reporter Irwin "Fletch" Fletcher. A relaunch of the "Fletch" franchise has been in the works for years, with the current screenplay's approach passing the baton to Fletch's journalist nephew as the semi-retired uncle advises him on his stories.
-Good to see him back...thoughts?

An interesting cast comes together for John Cusack's reteaming with his Grosse Point Blank and High Fidelity co-writer
Indeed, Cusack seems to be toplining this flick, which I first heard about when it started a small bidding war a few months back. Here's the quick hit from Variety:
John Cusack and Rob Corddry are set and Craig Robinson (“Knocked Up”) and Clark Duke (“Sex Drive”) are negotiating to star in MGM comedy “Hot Tub Time Machine,” which Steve Pink will direct.
Production starts April 20 in Vancouver. Cusack and New Crime partner Grace Loh will produce with Matt Moore.
Scripted by Josh Heald, the comedy follows a group of friends who are frustrated when they return to a ski lodge where they partied as teens. They then get in a hot tub -- which happens to be a time machine -- and get transported to 1987.

-Kind of a light premise, but perhaps they can make it work.
