WALL-E begins its campaign for Best Picture!

Is this all in vain, or can Pixar break through with this charming robot?

  1. It is in vain, but WALL-E deserves a Best Picture push all the same. I'm glad to see this!

  2. I'm inclined to think it won't get the nod, but it certainly does deserve it

  5. It's as good as (and maybe better than) "The Dark Knight". They both deserve nods, particularly since this has been a lousy year for movies.

Seen this year: "The Dark Knight", "The Visitor", "Young@Heart", "Bigger, Stronger, Faster*", "WALL-E", and "Vicky Cristina Barcelona". (All worth seeing).

Also, "The Band's Visit" is outstanding.

  6. As interesting as it would be to have this as a Best Picture nominee, it is really unlikely. In fact, with the addition of Best Animated Feature at the Oscars, that may have prevented any other animated film to be nominated in the top category because AF already fulfills that duty. I hope Beauty and the Beast does not remain the only exception forever, but any animated film now to break that barrier faces a huge uphill battle.
