From the cringe-inducing Alvin to the stunning Beowulf and the very popular Ratatouille. 12 animated films compete in the Oscar race's most playful category but only 3 will make the final cut... Which ones?
For sure, it will be nominated Ratatouille, simpsons and beowulf. And i think that is a good choice. The winner will be ratatouille (despite not be the best animated feature)
Yeah, for the most part I'm reasonably confidant in Ratatouille, Simpsons, and Beowulf (as long as AMPAS considers it Animated). The real wrench in the gears is Persepolis, which I've heard great things about but has little early buzz. If it is nominated, my guess is it replaces Simpsons, as both utilize the hand-drawn cartoon style. Regardless, I think Ratatouille is the safest bet to win right now.
My predictions. -Persepolis (Political theme and the representation of France / Very good reviews and Jury Award at Cannes) -Ratatouille (The best reviewed film of the year / AMPAS love Disney...) -The Simpsons Movie (Box office in Summer / Pop culture / AMPAS like them) I believe Beowulf will have (Or Could be)these nominations: -Best Art Direction (Lock) -Best Original Score (Lock) -Best Cinematography (Dark horse) -Best Sound Mixing (Likely) -Best Sound Editing (Lock) -Best Vissual Effects (Likely) I don't think Beowulf has a nomination of BEst Animated Picture but these others nominations are possibles
It'd be a shame if the Academy would let Beowulf face the same fate as The Polar Express. Beowulf may not be the best animated film on the list but it deserves to be nominated. It would probably score additional nominations for sound and music though.
As for Ratatouille, it's a definite lock for a nomination. It's hard to say though that it would win. It could be snubbed like what happened to Cars last year despite the film's hyped buzz.
The Simpsons Movie may have had its Emmy success but the big screen buzz was not as huge compared to both Ratatouille and Persepolis. But it's box-office performance would increase it's chance of being nominated.
My guess would be: *Ratatouille *Beowulf *Persepolis
If either Beowulf or Persepolis will not make the cut, The Simpsons Movie would be on the list. If both would lose their slots, Meet the Robinsons will take the last spot.
Who would you like to see be the main villain in the next Batman film?

Well, Ratatouille is a shoo-in for a nomination and will likely win.
ReplyDeleteThe Simpsons will be one of the other nominations. Not sure about the third. Maybe Beowulf.
