I think it's funny how everyone complains about how Slumdog winning everything is SO predictable and boring, blah blah blah........ but then on everything related with this site, The Dark Knight is sweeping the community awards, and is solidly safe every week and it's getting just as boring to pay attention to...
I thought Wall-E was out for sure. The Dark Knight and The Wrestler would have been a death match. Wall-E is deserving of the finale. Either of them can win.
This year, the Top 12 contained 4 of the 5 Best Picture nominees, missing Frost/Nixon.
Of the final five, 1 out of the 5 were actual Best Picture nominees.
Last year, 4 of 5 Best Picture Nominees were in the Top 12 missing Michael Clayton.
Of the Best Picture nominees, the top five contained 3. (not too bad)
Wouldn't be awesome if one year, we matched 5/5? or if we went a completely different route. (which I guess is what we did this year)
Eh, well...great season guys. Keep voting frantically.
Who would you like to see be the main villain in the next Batman film?

And the two films competing next week in the finale are, not is.
ReplyDeleteThat's disappointing. I had guessed these two would be in the finale from the beginning, and I had hoped The Wrestler might mix things up. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteMy money's on The Dark Knight.

ReplyDeleteYep. I'd say overall just a boring year in general (by comparison). Frontrunners are no fun whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteBring it on 2009.
i was hoping for The Wrestler as well, but alas
