Chicken Soup for the Film Fan's Soul...

howdily doodily ladies and gents...Joey here, and the question I propose to everyone today is the following: which film or films do you consider your comfort film(s)? Basically, what movie do you watch when you're in a bad mood or feeling sad or even just on a rainy day. It's a film that consistently is always there for you and is one you can always count on. For me, the movies that would qualify are:
-The Shawshank Redemption
-Jerry Maguire
-The Girl Next Door (sue me, I really dig this modern take on Risky Business)
-Love, Actually
-Juno (yes, even at this early stage, it qualifies....i've seen it about 12 times by now)
Guess I'm a romantic at heart...
-What movies would you claim to be your "chicken soup"?

  1. Excellent question!

I would have to go with the Sandlot, Little Giants or the Little Rascals (recent movie). Those movies bring me back to my childhood when I watched them.

  2. thanks man...yea on the childhood front Little Giants does it....just like Rookie of the Year and Little Big League

  3. Ooooh, very good question. Let me see...

    Fight Club
    American Psycho
    The Nightmare Before Christmas
    American Beauty
    The Matrix
    A Beautiful Mind

Kind of a bizarrely eclectic list. But I can definitely say that all of these films have fit the bill at some time or other.

  4. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
    Edward Scissorhands
    Big Fish
    Lost in Translation
    Brokeback Moutain
    You Can Count On Me
    Benny & Joon
    The Spanish Apartment
    Spirited Away
    Beauty & the Beast

  5. Steel Magnolias. So sugary and sweet, but Dolly Parton, Shirley Maclaine and Olympia Dukakis make it worth it.

  6. Amélie, Juno, Little Miss Sunshine, Ocean's 11, Hairspray, Harold and Maude

  7. it is certainly The Shawshank Redemption, going back to my freshman year when ever my roommate or I had a "blah" day or it was dark and rainy out we would call it a "Shawshank Day" and pop that in.

  8. Funny you should ask.

I had a terrible day at work yesterday, so I rented Eagle vs Shark because it looked good. That movie picked me up more than any other in a very long time. So, after that, my new chicken soup movie has to be Eagle vs Shark.

  9. Chicken Soup? No, "Duck Soup". The Marx Brothers always put me in a good mood. Also "The Producers"

  10. glad everyonr likes this post so much!

  11. A Hard Day's Night
    Monty Python....any of them
    Finding Nemo

However, the film that no matter what is perfect any time of the day is Amelie, seen like 50 billion times and I still walk away with a smile that wont go away for days.

  12. A Mighty Wind
    Waiting for Guffman
    Punch-Drunk Love

  13. Chocolat is my comfort film. You should try this and see if this makes u comfy.

  14. I forgot to add Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

That movie always make me laugh.
