Spike Lee's best arguement against Clint

Joey here with the trailer for the upcoming Spike Lee World War II film "Miracle at St. Anna". Instead of fighting a war of words with Eastwood, Spike should just let his film (which looks rather good) show the story that he feels is not being told by people like Clint. Here is the trailer: http://movies.yahoo.com/premieres/8290153/standardformat/
-what do you guys think of it?

  1. The trailer and the story seem interesting. Although, the version I watched was pretty crappy.

Also, I agree with your general point. Lee needs to leave the legend alone. I'm all for constructive criticism, but one can do it in a civil and less fiery way. Besides there is no need to interject race into the discussion.
Eastwood is clearly not anti-black. He makes art, he makes it accurately, and he makes it well. Lee needs to continue to craft his art too. But we don't need his social commentary about film. Leave that to us.

  2. Correction:

We do need Lee's social commentary within his films. But, his race mongering about other directors seem unnecessary. An artist should be able to express his art in the manner that he feels best reflects his vision. Of course, accuracy is important. But, not highlighting a particular race, does not make a film "inaccurate" per se. So, Lee should live, and let the Legend live too.

  3. indeed Keith...the whole issue just seems so unnecessary...different people make different films for a reason, no need to bicker about it as well
