"Night" Not "Happening" Anymore?

Hey all...Joey here quickly to simply ask all of you the following puzzle: What the hell has happened to M. Night Shyamalan? How can the man who gave us The Sixth Sense and Signs give us The Happening (or as I just called it to my grandfather, The Crappening)?
-Anyone with any clue should let me know here...

  1. Typical one hit wonder. After Sixth Sense it was all downhill! And The Happening will mark the end of his career! I mean, seriously, who's gonna give him any more money for crap like this?

  2. I'm going to have to disagree, I thought his first three pictures were brilliant, with the highlight being his third film, Signs. He however found a career low with The Village before sinking all the way down to Lady in the Water, which I have heard still holds rank as his worst...barely

  3. I thought Unbreakable was really good. I did not bother with Lady in the Water or the Happening. I feel some people just really disliked The Village, and its been a great deal of backlash ever since. In terms of the quality of his movies, I feel like he takes himself way too seriously. He just seems like one of those guys that does not hear criticism. Of course, I know very little about M Night, so take all of this with a grain. But, I think he would do much better if he collaborated with others (especially with writing). He has some interesting stories the tell. They just don't come out all that great.

  4. pretty much....his first three films are far superior to his last three...the worst part about The Crappening (as I will forever refer to it now) is that it was a good idea, just executed horrifically....the actors were wasted, the direction was terrible...it was closer to an Ed Wood picture than anything else

  5. just warning everyone ahead of time that i'm going to have SPOILERS in this post...

i'm not sure that it was really a great idea even...interesting, and perhaps if he had explained why ppl were killing themselves in a different way then the plot would have worked well...but c'mon! there is no compound on this earth that could induce mass suicide! that's just absurd...and the acting in this movie was literally the worst acting i have seen in a film ever...i was laughing at the performances throughout the whole thing!!! just really really bad all around woh woh

  6. hmm, apparently i'm the only one that likes the village as well as his first 3. Although I do agree that he as been declining, and I don't know if he can make a big comeback anytime soon. lady in the water and the happening were preposterous and pretentious messes.
