Joey here....and I might be about to get myself killed for saying this, but I really can't see how the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is going to be any good. It's just a gut feeling that I have. The trailers and tv spots have been uninspiring so far, but the thing that bugs me the most about everything is that from what I have seen, it doesn't look or feel enough like Indiana Jones should.
Perhaps I will will have to eat my fedora when it comes out, but I can't escape this sinking feeling that we're in for a bit of a dissapointment.
What do you guys think?
I think you've entered the realm of Film Snobdom and can't really enjoy movies anymore or you wouldn't be so hard to please. A film buff knows better than to base their opinions on a trailer of all things. Give it a chance. Beats putting your foot in your mouth over a minutes worth of film clips.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe deep down you just hate Indiana Jones. Or maybe you've gone Indie (hehe) and are biased towards mainsteam cinema?
DISSapointment
ReplyDeletenot at all d.w., it was simply a case of getting a bad vibe and wondering if anyone else thought so...i watch movies only because i enjoy them....i haven't become biased either, considering iron man is my favorite movie of the year so far and it's plenty mainstream...i will certainly give it a chance, and be in line opening night, just not expecting Raiders....
ReplyDeleteAhhh gotchya. S'cool. I see a lot of that happen though. Mostly to film students. They get the holier than thou attitude and nothing seems good enough anymore until they find some obscure foreign "film".
ReplyDeleteAlso, the whole Indy thing, it's so hyped and anticipated that many just assume it's not gonna be great or live up to the likes of Ark or the Last Crusade.
I try not to make presumptions though but like you said, let's give it a chance and then we can rightfully bash it till our typing fingers bleed. Heh!
D.W.
I've loved the Indy pictures and I've read nothing but favorable reviews (it currently sits at 81% at Rotten Tomatoes, near the level of Atonement last year) including a 3 1/2 star review from Roger Ebert. I am ready for another grand adventure
