  1. Milk had way better ensemble acting, everyone was at the top of their game! Slumdog? Not so much, Dev and Freida were adequate but by no means amazing, the rest varied in terms of acting.

I wanted Mickey to win! Oh well, can't win 'em all.

  2. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. why is slumdog winning THIS?! EVERY other film had better ensemble acting, individual acting, ACTING! it was supposed to go to maybe...uh.. a film that got an acting nomination from the big oscar? just a thought. of all the awards that slumdog shouldn't have one, and there are many, this is the one that it is least deserving of. here's hoping there is some quick and intense backlash.

  3. I just really don't understand. I am completely and totally flabbergasted every single time that Slumdog wins an award: from Best Director to Best Score to Best Picture to Best Ensemble Acting. I feel like the voting bodies have gone insane this season. And I understand that the movie was uplifting and reflects the changing times, but these awards are supposed to go to the BEST film. How in the name of good film making can people honestly call Slumdog Millionaire the very best of the season? It utterly astounds me.

  4. Seems fair enough. Good spread of wins across some of my faves. Kate and Meryl both get to take home awards!

  5. This is truly beyond me. I understand how people can think of Slumdog just sweeping everything, but as it was pointed out before, SAG is supposed to honor *acting!* Boyle's direction was great and the script was good, but this is not an actor's piece. Any of the other films would have been a better choice than this.

  6. Slumdog does seem strange as the Best Cast etc - would have considered Doubt to have been a fave there given the pedigree of talent and the critic's comments re performances. Perhaps CCOBB? But anywho.

Tell me - what are the stats on SAG wins who go on to win ther Oscar? I know last year it was 2/4 in the acting awards. And then the year before it was 3/4 went on to win at the Oscars. But over a longer time frame how has this averaged out?

  7. Yeah I am in complete agreement with the Slumdog domination... shouldn't be this big... no way in hell was it the best cast. It was one of the best films. I will give it that, possibly the best... but not in my eyes. Doubt had a great cast and Benjamin Button did as well, MILK easily has the best cast this season... 4,2 and 2 acting nominations... and one for Frost/Nixon. None for Slumdog Millionaire. What the hell... Score is nothing like that of Benjamin Button, let's be honest. And 2 song nominations over Springsteen's unbelievable "The Wrestler" is absolutely ridiculous. I am hoping this backlash will actually occur... Most likely in favor for Benjamin Button.

  8. Could it be a vote split? Personally I don't think Slumdog was close to the big award.
