Thoughts?

  1. this trailer knocked it down a peg for me...I'm not sure that it'll be the Oscar powerhouse people think...too dreary...even No Country for Old Men wasn't this dark looking

  2. I think it looks freakin' awesome. It'll probably be the fall indie movie I think looks amazing and then disappoints me. But I hope not. Viggo at least looks great.

  3. looks good to me, lets just hope that they go the story route, not the explosion/thrills route.

  4. the trailer is slightly misleading, but i understand the marketing aspect of the movie. it looks good, but i hope they emphasize the story a bit more in the film.

im sure they will...there's only so much you can gather from a 2 minute montage of the movie.

  7. Not too sure what to make, yeah it looks good, and left me with questions about the plot, is that good or bad?
Doesnt look like the type of film the academy go for, but the cinematography looked excellent.

  8. I was let down by the trailer, except for the realization that Garret Dillahunt has a part in the film. At least the photography looks beautiful. If I were to guess, I would say that that will be the film's only Oscar nom. (maybe score)

  9. I think the trailer is not at all representative of the actual film.
The trailer was tryign to market it as an action horror movie, whereas the the real film that I saw at one of the early screenings is the most powerful survival drama I have ever seen on film. I knew the trailer was going to suck, sinc eit's a damned hard film to market. After all, its not like there's a happy ending or anything, it's all sad all the time.

Bottom line, do not be mislead by the trailer. Go see the film in October and keep it on the oscar radar. Having seen the film, I can tell you you will not regret it and you will be deeply moved by it. You owe it to yourself to see this incredible film.

  10. Yes, I certainly hope they're not going in this direction with it. The book was not exciting, the opposite in fact. Their journey was monotonous if anything. Hopefully the film captures that.

  11. I'm not getting the Oscar buzz for this one, probably because it starts off (in the trailer any way) feeling like a big blockbuster in the vain of The Day After Tomorrow, Knowing, 2012 etc. However, it looks very, very intriguing and I am looking forward to it. Charlize, while being a an extremely talented actress, would need to do a lot more than what this trailer shows to get considered, I believe. Viggo, could do it though, depends on the strength of the field this year. What will people say about the film deing delayed though? Will they think the producers thought something was wrong with it? Not up to scratch? Very strong cast though.
