A news article detailing the breakdown of the film adaptation of 'Moneyball'

This article here in today's New York Daily News is an interesting chronicle of how a movie set to be made with Brad Pitt in the lead and directed by Steven Soderbergh ended up falling apart and now is considered by some to be a "doomed movie project". We still might see the Moneyball movie at some point, but it's not the most likely thing in the world right now, and this article is an interesting look at what went wrong from a more sports perspective than simply a film one. It's a good read...

  1. I'll tell you what went wrong. I tried to bait an oscar with this story and ended up dumping it as well. Why? Because there's no real dramatic or theatrical elements within the story. The book is great and what happens in it is influential, if not ground-breaking but his team doesn't end up winning it all. Who wants to watch some guys in suits playing fantasy baseball in the office?...and not even win? Nobody. This was doomed from the start.

  2. I actually think it has a lot of potential, though not in its current format
