I saw a preview for this film a while back and thankfully I didn't have to sign a NDA. The trailer makes me very disappointed though because I thought it was a very good trailer while the film is just a solid, fun, well acted movie that will be forgotten 2 months after it comes out. I doubt this will have any awards come Oscar time but at the GGs I hope Rachel lands her first major nod because she gives a truly great performance in this and is my favorite actress. I think she already deserves an oscar and has been snubbed of 5 nominations, on top of what should have been a win.
I certainly don't get an oscar vibe from this, but it looks like a fun movie. Wish there was more Jeff Goldblum, but Harrison Ford looks better than he's been in 20 years.
Also, Andrew, I would like to know what the five performances you feel McAdams should be nominated for (especially which one you feel she deserved the gold for). I'm a fan of hers, but haven't seen anything that made me think Oscar.
Robert, the film I think she deserved to win for was The Family Stone back in 2005 for best Supporting actress, I absolutely fell in love with the loveable brat in the same way many did with Ellen Paige in Juno but McAdams screentime was so limited that I was so impressed by how she could carry such a mediocre film with such little screen time. I also feel she deserved nominations for, The Lucky Ones(her best performance in my opinion), The Time Traveler's Wife and State of Play(simply because I thought last years actress races were so weak), Red Eye and Mean Girls(which was the first film I saw her in and I despised her and practically cheered when she got hit by that bus then the next year she gives a performance that makes me fall in love with her and to me someone who can do that is a great actress.
Who would you like to see be the main villain in the next Batman film?

ReplyDeleteGood to know...

Agreed...
ReplyDeleteI like McAdams a lot, though...she's right on the cusp to me.
ReplyDeleteThis does look like a fun movie, even one that I will probably be able to tolerate Diane Keaton in!
ReplyDeletePS. Is that blasphemy? The bit about Diane Keaton? lol
I want to watch this!
ReplyDeleteMatthew- Nope, you're entitled to your opinion.
ReplyDeleteNigel- Then go to the movies when it comes out and do so...plenty of us will too.

ReplyDeleteAgreed about her work in The Family Stone. I also dug her in The Time Traveler's Wife, obviously.
