The Wrestler Might Body Slam Oscar After All!

Seems the first reviews are giving Mickey Rourke a real shot at a nomination. Variety has it's review up and says things like "Rourke creates a galvanizing, humorous, deeply moving portrait that instantly takes its place among the great, iconic screen performances."
-Wow...this could be something special.

  1. mickey is an underrated actor and was great in diner and sin city, on top of that darren aronofsky is a great director (requiem for a dream deserved far more nominations than it received and ellen burstyn should have won best actress) and although people alot of people didn't like the fountain, it stills proves his talent, can't wait for this movie!

  3. The movie as a whole is difficult to read for most categories, since it's had almost no buzz until very recently. It will need to be an all around hit to get most nominations, but I'm predicting a very strong push for Best Actor. It's that kind of role, and Mickey Rourke is that kind of actor at that kind of epic comeback point in his career. The Academy will probably go for him. But I can't say about the movie yet. I'm certainly optimistic though.
