TCM's 15 Most Influential Films
TCM unveiled a list of what they consider the 15 most influential movies of all-time. The list includes some popular ones like Citizen Kane, Star Wars, and Psycho. I'll admit, I've only seen ten out of the fifteenth. I have yet to catch 42nd Street, It Happened in One Night, Bicycle Thieves, Stagecoach, and Breathless. There's always much to learn in the movie world. What are some of your most influential films?
Longer commentary from TCM about their selections.

ReplyDeletePunch Drunk Love?
ReplyDeleteI think Punch Drunk Love was a drastic change of pace in filmmaking today and not just for Paul Thomas Anderson. This movie was a reminder that you can do small things that are just as effective and affecting as bigger movies. It's also influential as far as its visual style I think. The almost surreal animation inserts were an interesting touch and the lighting effects have popped up in other movies after it. It might also be seens as a watershed as far as resurrecting the small scale film, it was one of the first I believe.
ReplyDeleteBarry Lyndon.
ReplyDeleteI think Punch Drunk is vastly underrated but this seems more like the case of it being influential to you, mainly.
