  1. Little Person from Synecdoche, NY
    The Wrestler
    O Saya from Slumdog
    Down to Earth from Wall-E
and anything but that Miley Cyrus song!

I never want to look at her IMDB profile and see "Nominated for Oscar"

    BLECH!

  2. Down To Earth - WALL-E
    The Wrestler - The Wrestler
Little Person - Synecdoche, New York
    Jai Ho - Slumdog Millionaire
    Whatever

Agree with the above sentiment regarding Miley Cyrus. Also, nothing from High School Musical, please and thank you.

  3. i hate Miley Cyrus less than most, and honestly...her Disney attachment will help, so she has a good shot, but my ideal 5 would be:

    Down to Earth
Dracula's Lament (my second favorite song of the year)
    Gran Torino
    Rock Me Sexy Jesus
    The Wrestler (my favorite)

  4. Was "Inside of You" not an original song from Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I thought it was much funnier than "Dracula's Lament." All the others on the list look good.

  6. YAY for the numerous mentions of High School Musical 3!!! Though the movie isn't the greatest thing to come from Hollywood, these songs are well written and orchestrated, an integral part of the story, and all sung by talented performers. Thank you, Academy!

Also, "I want it all" gives a little shout out to the Oscars in the lyrics... Maybe an advantage? Hey... the Oscars like attention, too!

How great would it be to see Lucas Grabeel perform "I want it all" for all his fellow MILK cast to see?!

  7. Once in a Lifetime from Cadillac Records should at least make the final 5. Especially after Beyonce was snubbed from the writing credits of 'Listen' a couple of years ago!

  8. If the Academy recognizes "Rock Me Sexy Jesus" I will be pleasantly surprised. That being said, O Saya from Slumdog Millionaire is probably the best original song I've heard all year.

  9. I really think at least 1 song from Repo! The Genetic Opera(Chromaggia probably) should get nominated along with The Wrestler, Jai Ho, Down to Earth, and Little Person.
