It does look good, and piques my interest as opposed to Valkyrie, which lsoes my interest due to its lead actor. The trailer is good, but I found the cynical movie lover deep in me cringed at the melodramatic line "not you too John". Look forward to seeing this - Mortensen and Isaacs are very good actors. Is Isaac's character gay in the film?
Yeesh, between this, Valkyrie, The Reader, and Defiance, it appears that Hollywood is truly set to Americanize one of the most inherently German time periods in history. Early reviews on Good have been across the board negative, which is a pity. So with this being bad, Defiance being hailed with a resounding meh, The Reader being called good but not great, and Valkyrie being more popcorn oriented in its depiction of Tom Cruise assassinating Hitler with his Yankee accent, maybe the industry will take a hint and we won't have so much at once in the future.
Though to their credit, Good and The Reader are European productions, and less under the thumb of Hollywood per se.
Who would you like to see be the main villain in the next Batman film?

ReplyDeleteI heard that this won't be eligible for oscar consideration due to the release date, is that true?

ReplyDeleteDo most Germans speak English? Or, should we just accept Hollywood's interpretation of 1932-1939 Germany?
ReplyDeletethey apparently all speak English, and I also heard we won't be seeing this until next year, but I haven't confirmed it yet
