just a quick note- anyone who is into The Dark Knight should check out I Am Legend in IMAX when it opens...there's a trailer/preview that will blow people's minds
I actually think that Heath Ledger could be the one to watch for an Oscar. If his performance is as good as I am expecting, then why shouldn't he be in consideration. Johnny Depp recevied a nomination for "Pirates of the Caribbean" and it looks like Amy Adams is heading that way with "Enchanted." His performance should be similar to those two. I just hope that high expectations won't hurt him.
Remember, Al Pacino received a nomination for "Dick Tracy" in 1991 for Best Supporting Actor, and the character is a villain for a comic. Or inclusive William Hurt for "A history of violence" two years ago. The character is from a graphic novel...
Considering that the film comes out next year, that it's a summer film (generally forgotten by Oscar season), and that it's still kind of early to even be calling this year's race (not that that's going to stop us here at the Igloo!), I'd avoid even making such a comment about Heath so early. I certainly wouldn't rule him out, but at least wait for a trailer to see what he's like. I'm sure he'll be good, but consider that Nicholson's turn in the same role is still legendary, and he didn't get a nomination. I wouldn't rule him out, but I just don't want to even think about next year right now, lol.
That's right, in this moment it's not a look contender fro the next year's for an Academy Award nomiantion, but surprises could happen and especially in the Oscars. Only we know the answer in August. For me I hope that high expectations for the film and especially for Heath Ledger won't broke.
Who would you like to see be the main villain in the next Batman film?
