  1. 13/24...better than 50%

And seriously, Assassination should have won cinematography. So many shots made my mind blow and There Will Be Blood just wasn't as good in comparsion

  2. Seriously, Assassination of Jesse James was the best picture of 2007 if you ask me.

  5. Great Marion and Tilda upsettings, especially swinton's, cause cotillard was maybe not as equally awarded (till now) but much more praised (and the fact tat she is incredibly beautiful doesnt hurt eiter) Blanchett will win for a lead next time. And tha NCFOM was a lock but personally, i am not into anticlimatic experiments (reat first half though) and prefered TWBB way more. Good for bardem tough. here in spain they'll go nuts

  6. 15/24 Was really not expecting the Marion and Tilda upsets although they did make my day as well as the bourne editing and sound sweeps.

  7. 14/24 (58%), but I was mainly pleased I predicted Marion Cotillard. :D

  10. I truly think "Across the Universe", "Atonement", "Juno" and "Ratatouille" are BY FAR the best films of the year... "No Country for Old Men" is ABSOLUTELY overrated!!!!! (I haven't seen "There will be blood" but it looks out of this world)

"No country for old men" doesn't have any spark, any soul, any emotion, anything to offer the viewer. It's just a display of technique and ability, Bardem, McDonald and Brolin are flawless and it's a good movie with great cinematography.. BUT THAT'S ALL!!
It's not the best picture of the year. "Atonement" is.

  11. Atonement is absolutely the best film of the year...No country is good(the mesagge is great), but Atonement is better in all aspects...even the director...

NO COUNTRY wasn´t as good in comparsion...

    A T O N E M E N T was the bes picture of 2007.

  12. Most of the people I wanted to win ended up winning...Glad they found a way to reward Michael Clayton, but I thought the upset would be in original screenplay instead of supporting actress...Glad there was no Holbrook upset in supporting actor, that academy usually loves giving it to old veterans. And they got it right with best picture! They usualyl never do!

  13. Ellen page should have won best actress...and did you guys see cate blanchett's reaction when cotillard's name was called out?! it was priceless :D...but yea best picture should have been atonement not no country (it was good but not great, fargo was way better)

  14. i have never been so happy in oscar history like this year when marion won the lead actress award. the best performance by faaaaaar

CONGRATS MARION!!!! You didn't play Edith Piaf, you WERE Edith Piaf!!!

  15. I was certainly happy with this years oscars!! So glad Marion won! And of course Javier and Daniel Day. But most of all I was estatic that Tilda Swinton won for her AMAZING work in Michael Clayton. Thank God Oscars got it right!!

  16. How can so many people be happy that Tilda Swinton won best supporting actress??????

I mean, the only explanation I can come up with is that they didn't see I'm not there. Cate blanchets performance is completely out of this world!!! She BECOMES Bob Dylan in a way that you completely forget that it is actually an ACTRESS playing the part.

Please, see that movie and tell me if you still think Tilda deserved to win. Nothing against her, she is a great actress who should have been nominated before, but this year she didn't deserve to win.

Cotillard, Bardem, Day Lewis and Blanchett gave the best performances of the year, regardless of categories, and it would have been great to see them all get rewarded.

Anyway, all in all not a bad year for film lovers. No Country for Old man is a master piece (as is There Will be Blood) and I'm thrilled that they won. Wouldn't have hurt to have an oscar for Paul Thomas Anderson though, specially Adapted Screenplay, he did wonders with that story...

  17. I was SUPER happy Marion won. She was so great in the film, and Cate Blanchett's reaction was so great ... and speaking of Cate Blanchett, what's the deal with her losing for Supporting Actress? The fact that Tilda Swinton would have won because she is a lesser known actress, or because she is a "hard-working, respected thespian" makes me sick. Isn't the point of the Academy Awards to celebrate the best achievements in film of the year, not just to distribute the oscars equally so that everybody can have a turn.

  18. Okay, I saw both performances and I would have also voted for Swinton. I didn't buy Blanchet for a man let alone Bob Dylan. I mean, she did well for the collective ensemble showing the many sides of Dylan's character, but if she had won, it would have been because of the uniqueness of the role, not her performance. And I think voting for something as shallow as that would have been a horrible mistake, especially when there are more deserving actors out there, like Swinton, or Amy Ryan.

  19. Congratulations to Marion Cotillard!! She deserves the Oscar, and now she makes history:

*Third french actress who won the Oscar: Simone Signoret (Best Actress in a Leading Role in 1959) and Juliette Binoche (Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 1996)
*First actress who won the Oscar for a french speaking role
*Second actress who won the Oscar for a role of diferent language to English after Sofia Loren in 1961.

My favorite to best supporting actress was Cate Blanchett but Tilda Swinton is good choice (Much better than Ruby Dee).

For the first time in years I'm glad for the results to the winners, especially in the big 8 categories

  20. I forgot another Marion Cotillard's record:

She is the first actor to win an Academy Award for a film not in English or Italian.

    The other performances are:

    *Sofia Loren for "Two Women"
*Robert De Niro for "The Godfather II"
*Roberto Benigni for "life is beautiful"

Benicio Del Toro is in spanglish (Between spanish and english)
