  1. It certainly has potential to be a player on the acting fronts...

  3. Indeed. I'm not expecting Best Picture or anything, but it could be a very nice little film.

  4. I agree. I'm not seeing a Best Picture contender, but I do think this will be a nice showcase for the actors. I'm looking forward to this as well.

  5. Yes sir. It plays to me like something in the vein of Crazy Heart or The Last Station, at least in terms of awards potential.

The thing is, it's somewhat of a known quantity since it screened at Toronto last year and got good, but great, marks from critics in attendance. That means we know it won't suck, but we also know it has a somewhat short ceiling for success.

  7. Definitely looks enjoyable. I'm anxious to see it, I just know I'll like it better with mildly tempered expectations...

  8. I'm just gonna go ahead and say it: Bill Murray will win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar next year.

It just seems like the kind of role, the "right time," and the overdue actor to get it. I'm getting such serious Robin Williams/Morgan Freeman vibes from this performance that I think only a come-from-nowhere explosive perf can derail its Oscar chances.

  9. I agree with Robert, Murray is definitely a frontrunner at this point in the supporting category. He is just one of those actors that the academy will make others wait so he can win.

  10. Well, he's who I'm predicting right now on the Chart to win.

  11. That being said, I don't think he's a lock or anything...time will tell.

  12. With the reviews and the trailer already out, I would say we almost have our first lock for a Best Pic nominee this year. I wouldn't give it any chance to win, but I don't really see a way it won't make the lineup. That said Murray and Duvall look amazing and I'm intrigued to see what Lucas Black will do with the opportunity. He has stood toe to toe with some decent actors in his limited career and though his range may be somewhat limited, I've thoroughly enjoyed his work in everything from Jarhead to Friday Night Lights.

  13. I think I'll go ahead and predict: Get Low will outgross Avatar as the most profitable film of all-time.

  14. I think it's a fools errand to say ANY film is a lock right now, especially since the reviews weren't quite that unanimously loving, but I do agree that it could conceivably get nominated in a number of categories, but if I were a betting man, Murray, Duvall, and the screenplay are where its best chances are, but who knows?
