I would be happy to see DDL win his 2nd Oscar, but if Viggo gets a nomination and wins, I won't be disappointed. His performance in Eastern Promises was stunning.
I don't want Viggo to surprise, he was great but..... I want Day-Lewis to get recognition for his finest performance in years, which syas something seeing as his career is top notch...
Agreed, Myles. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for Viggo and it would indeed be a big step for him to just get nominated.
But I wouldn't be unhappy if he was the one that beat DDL. DDL's performance was fantastic, certainly award-worthy, and in what I thought was a magnificent movie. But there were several award-worthy leading men this year, including Viggo.
I think DDL will easily win, just because it's that kind of epic Best Actor performance that Oscar eats right up. But I thought Viggo was spectacular, and I'm sure that a nod here will push him towards better and better projects in the future, and with enough luck, he'll win someday. He got seriously snubbed for LOTR and History of Violence, they can't ignore him forever (knock on wood).
Who would you like to see be the main villain in the next Batman film?

ReplyDeleteUnless Viggo Mortensen surprises, birddogg34.

He is a lock, maybe even for the Oscar win?

I expect him to win at the Oscars but I hope that Emile Hirsch is nominated for Into the Wild at the Oscars.
ReplyDeleteSuch a deserving performance from an always deserving actor.
ReplyDeleteAnd Alison, I loved Viggo, and would be satisfied if he were merely nominated at this point (he appears to be on target, so we'll see).

Can you tell I like Viggo? :)
I'll admit I've had a growing suspicion. :P
