  1. Great picks, Joey, and some really refreshing ones. I'm so glad you include Once. An absolutely lovely film.

I especially appreciate your love for Bale and Cusack, two forgotten lead actors this year, as well as the many nods you would have given to Zodiac.

Kudos also for including 4-3-2 and Persepolis. The outrage about these films being left off of the short list is still rampant.

  2. Indeed...of the few foreign films i saw...they definitely stood out, as well as Cusack and Bale's performances!

  3. haha i can't believe that 1) you even mentioned walk hard; and 2) that you put it above all the other songs, including above "Falling Slowly" from Once...

  5. Ummmm....so I see that you've tried to absoloutely snub Atonement in every way possible...don't think that's gonna happen, though. For the most part other than that, pretty nice list, especially the fact that you included Kerri Russel. However, Cusack was Ok at best in an average film, so he's definitely outta there

  6. You should check out Roger Ebert's predictions on his website, where he make a great argument for why Atonement WILL get nominated (he has it over Into the Wild, actually) I tend to agree. He also has Keira Knightley getting nominated, too, which is also deserved. Into the Wild just didn't do well enough at the box office to be remembered, so there's my opinion.

  7. Jordan.....these are my personal preferences, my oscar ballot as it were, and i simply enjoyed other films more than Atonement....i'm not arguing its quality, but in my own personal opinion, these are the performances/films that i would want to recognize if i was an academy member....they're not realistic picks

  8. glad to see someone else wants to snub atonement...it's just another "sweeping love-story" that the academy loves and is incredibly boring. not dissing it as a film altogether, but i hate all the buzz it had. Anyways, great list.
