I'm thinking that AMPAS will lean toward period costumes in their selections, though I could be wrong. I think the likely Oscar nominees for Costume will be:

I think Sweeney Todd, Atonement and Elizabeth are pretty much locks in this category. And I think 3:10 to Yuma is in as well. La Vie en Rose is a maybe. Except for last year, in general this guild tends to match the Oscars 3/5 rather than 5/5. So maybe Hairspray could get in there. Or possibly Assassination of Jesse James, which was snubbed here but could be recognized by AMPAS.
Hairspray's costumes were nothnig special. In fact, nothing about the film was special. Anywho, here's my predictions w/predicted winner

It's all a matter of opinion, neo. There are some people that thought La Vie en Rose's costumes were nothing special. I disagree, but that's their opinion. :)
