I Love You, DVD releases this week!

With that bad pun for a title, my choice for the PICK OF THE WEEK should be fairly obvious, but it's important to note that this is a great week for home viewings, as even the worse option this week is passable entertainment. The cream of this week's crop, however, is:
I Love You, Man
The chemistry between Paul Rudd and Jason Segel is absolutely terrific in this "bromantic" comedy about a guy trying to make a guy friend. It's not the funniest movie of the year, but it's definitely up there and is great entertainment, so check it out if you haven't already.
-Also out this week on the high quality side are such diverse fair as the quirky indie comedy Gigantic, which is a little too quirky for its own good, but Zooey Deschanel and Paul Dano are very good together, and make up for any shortcomings the film has. There is also the dueling French films The Class and Paris 36, which couldn't be more different, but are of about equal quality. Neither is a masterpiece, but both are quite good.
-Finally we have 17 Again, which is a decent enough flick when Matthew Perry is on screen, but highly average for the other 80% of the runtime. There's nothing wrong with the film, it just does nothing new with a tired enough concept. Rent something like Big instead, unless you're a huge fan of Perry or Zac Efron.
-My Vintage pick this week is, in honor of this week's release of District 9, the similarly viral marketed Cloverfield. This high concept monster movie certainly loses something on DVD as opposed to the big screen, but it's still a hell of a ride and a film I often revisit.
-What will you be watching on DVD this week?
