  1. I don't understand how you had the Coen Brother's 'A Serious Man' as a Top 10 best picture contender, but nowhere as best director contender.

Other than that great pics. I wish Funny People went over better I really thought it was a brilliant film and Apatow's chance to finally get recognized for something.

  2. I completely agree with you about Funny People...Clayton feels strongly about A Serious Man at the moment, and with 10 Pic slots and 5 director slots, it could very well be one of the films that gets in with only 1 or 2 nominations

  3. Best Pic category seems okay to me. Best director is more interesting at this point.

I am concerned as to how Nine will go - will it be put out by a) the hype of the next musical picture done by the director of Chicago (which I think in itself was overrated) and b) the hype thus far for the A list cast etc. It probably is a winner over at the SAGS for cast though!

The presence of Jane Campion, as one of two possible female nominees for director, is exciting (not that I think female directors have necessarily been shut out because they have vaginas instead of penises).

Peter Jackson is a shoe-in for a nomination for director and of all the possibilities he is my choice. Personally, he should have three Oscars on his shelf for director. The thing I love about him is he can craft some of the most breathtaking scenes ever seen in film, and yet also create some of the most subtle, poignant, and heartbreaking moments.

  5. Wait...why did Saoirse Ronan drop that much? ....because Weisz might actually be the lead? Come'on...She said three whole WORDS in the trailer...i think its safe to say that Weisz is supporting.
