I'm still very much unconvinced of its potential for any major Oscar love (hence my exclusion of it from the poll on the right), but it's not a horrible poster...
Decent poster. So far, I'm not convinced of it's best picture chances. I think Swank might be a contender, but perhaps the role is too Oscarbaity. Plus she already has like ten awards.
yo guys, i think if she's good maybe she can have her nom, but please no more wins. Especially when so many people are still waiting for their first nomination let alone a win.
I'm with Joey - I have no problem with someone winning multiple times if they deserve it. I think Hillary is an amazing actress. But I do have this feeling about this film that it could just be too Oscar-ish. That's not to detract from its own inherent qualities, but it does make me wonder . . .
I still have nightmares of her southern accent from 'Million Dollar Baby' beating Imelda Staunton from 'Vera Drake.' That really wasn't even a contest.
Best performance should win, period. If it's close, then perhaps we can use the "she already has 2" argument, but if she gives the best performance hands down, I have no problem with her winning a third. It lends credibility to the Academy if the best performance wins. Of course, determining the "best" performance is a trick subject to begin with right? So, let's just say *theoretically* the best performance should win every time.
Who would you like to see be the main villain in the next Batman film?

ReplyDeletewell, she did loan her 8th Oscar to me, so I suppose she could use another one...

I go with the theory that the best performance deserves the award, and if the same person ends up winning every year, so be it...it's about integrity
