Can Sam Rockwell become an unlikely Best Actor nominee?

There's certainly a grass roots effort to get him recognized for his work in Moon. Much as I think it's some of the finest work by anyone this year, it's a long shot at best, though.
-What do you think of the effort and Rockwell's chances?

  2. He looks like a bit of a longshot now, but I'm reminded of Richard Jenkins. He was a bit forgotten for a while, but the critics awards helped him a tremendous lot. We'll have to see where the precursors take him. It would be so awesome if he got nominated.

  3. it definitely could happen, and I'd love it to, but it's a little early to get any real idea

  4. I actually just finished "Moon" today. Very good film, but, yes, Rockwell was incredible in it. At the moment, I would definitely nominate him, so it would be nice to see someone as talented yet on the cusp of stardom as Sam Rockwell to get nominated this year.

Plus, although he didn't make my cut for actor for "Snow Angels" last year, He did terrific work in that film as well.

  5. Indeed on both counts...at the moment he's my chart prediction to win Best Actor and obviously in my nomination predictions on the main page, but that's an old prediction from late in the summer...right now I don't see him getting nominated, but I'd love it to happen, and I waffle on whether or not to include him, so stay tuned to find out!

  6. I think it is really one of those performances where I wouldnt be surprised if he didnt get nominated, as it's not really the oscars style, but then I wouldnt be surprised if he did get nominated because it is such a phenomenal performance.

Personaly I really hope he does...he's such an under-rated actor that its almost sickening.
