Invictus FINALLY gets a Trailer for us to know it actually exists...

At long last, here is the trailer:

-Honestly, I'm not too impressed, though it's tons better than the fractured look that Entertainment Tonight posted...thoughts?

  1. I wouldn't necessarily say disappointing, but perhaps it's just not a trailer that blows anyone away in order to justify waiting so long...

  2. No matter what, the trailer would disappoint on some level because it's been so long. I actually like the trailer. It feels like classic Eastwood. I'm looking forward to it.

  3. The trailer wasn't worth the wait, but it still looks like a good Eastwood film. However, based on the trailer, the movie looks to be more like a Glory Road (inspirational sports film with social implications) than a biopic about Mandela. I think it will still be a good movie, but I would much rather see a movie about Mandela's life.

  4. Very average looking, after seeing the trailer I am highly doubting Freeman will be making another walk to the podium. It looks like a nice film, with nice performances, nothing great.

  5. I definitely understand your thoughts on the trailer, Joey. Maybe it is just one of those trailers that doesn't truly showcase the film's best moments.

Nonetheless, for all the hype behind this film, I have to say that this particular trailer does not live up to it.

Personally, it looks like Matt Damon will be the best part of the film. His accent was much more defined and difficult to pull off than Freeman's, and he seems to be a slightly more compelling character, at least within the confines of this film.

  6. Yes agree Katelyn and Mitch especially with Mitch about Freeman he looks like typical above average Morgan Freeman. I'm definitely not looking forward to this anymore with all the other interesting things coming out around that time like Lovely Bones and Avatar. Speaking of no leaks for Avatar? I know the official online release is tomorrow..

  7. Personally, I think the movie looks interesting, and the trailer makes me want to see it more.

Does the trailer make me wish it were playing in theatres right now so I could go out and buy a ticket? Not necessarily.

But it still looks like it will be a good film.

    Im looking forward to it.

  8. I won't lie, the trailer gave me chills. Mandela is a personal hero of mine and everything about the film is suddenly looking top notch. I know a lot of people were underwhelmed by the trailer, but you can't deny that it looks like a fantastic return to form for Eastwood, especially after the near disasters of Changeling and Gran Torino. Eastwood should stick with his recent string of films dealing with international subjects, ala Letter from Iwo Jima. He seems to do best when not trying so hard to make his films so "American" or dark and broody. In fact, the level of bile and sheer brooding in his films like Mystic River, Changeling, Gran Torino, etc, are generally very off putting. Nice to see something that will make me feel better about the human condition than worse.

  9. Well, we'll all likely still see it, so it's not like it lost any viewers

  10. I think it was inevitable that we would one day see a film where Morgan Freeman played Nelson Mandela. However, is this the film we (well, certainly I) have been waiting for all these years? I think not. I could be very wrong in this assumption. However when I imagined a biopic on his life I didn't imagine it like this - I wanted more about the man, and the sports theme, to me, seems distracting.
