Here's the first official image of Chris Hemsworth as Thor!

It's not much, but it's a start...thoughts?

  1. I really really like Kenneth Branaugh, especially with what he did with Hamlet. His ability to take its such dense scripture and turn it into relatively natural dialogue without even changing a single word hugely impressed me.

So, in short, I'm very excited for Thor.

  3. Branagh is a huge talent; however, I feel that most of the time his greatest attributes short-step him as a director.

For instance, I'd have to say that "Frankenstein" is probably in my top five favorite novels of all time, and his interpretation is one of the biggest abominations I have ever seen.

However, on the other hand, he does handle Shakespeare, and particularly theatrical films, quite well. I definitely appreciate what he did with "Hamlet", even though the film is a bit uneven in my book. However, he did a great job with "Henry V" -- his best film, in my opinion.

Having said all this, the film could really go either way. His skill with handling over-the-top situations could play well into "Thor", but at the same time, it may be a bit too much. All in all, we need to wait and see at least a trailer before any kind of judgment can be passed. However, I am liking the pic.
