Not too shabby but I have to say, this might be getting a little boring and predictable with the exception of the tie for actress and Winslet's win.

  1. Just because YOU don't like Slumdog Millionaire doesn't mean it's been a boring awards season for the rest of us...

Hope Meryl and Anne tie at the Oscars too...it could really happen in either lead acting category this year with Rourke vs. Penn and Streep vs. Hathaway. And it's cool that those two ladies are fine with each other sharing the prize.

  2. I feel your pain. I think that the predictability of an awards season is sad. There are so many people that can be given awards throughout the season.

Kudos to BFCA for giving the awards to Meryl and Winslet, both fantastically deserving! Sad about the loss of Frank Langella, who I believe deserved it.

And it's not that we don't like Slumdog Millionaire.. It's just that I do not think it was the best of the year. Out of those ten movies, it was most CERTAINLY not the best. I think, if I voted, my vote would have been cast for either Doubt, Wall-E, Ben Button, Frost/Nixon, or the Dark Knight. That goes to show you the talent and great movies this year. I don't have just one specific best movie of the year. =]

  3. Who ever said I don't like Slumdog Millionaire? It's actually one of the greatest films in years. I was referring to the awards season. Learn to read what I'm typing, JORDAN!

  6. Ugh, that was the most frustrating Critics' Choice Awards. Slumdog Millionaire is NOT the best movie this year by a longshot. I'm not sure I would even include it in my top ten of the year. I got so annoyed last night because I kept seeing much more deserving artists losing out to a film that I can't see as "the best." Now, I'm not saying that I disliked the film, but I have a lot of problems with it. It was a fun ride to watch, but the whole I was thinking to myself "This is the best? No." Out of all the awards it won last night, the only one I was happy to see it win was Best Young Actor for Dev Patel. Can someone please explain to me why this film is so loved?!?

  7. @ Adam

At the end of the day, art is subjective. You (or I) will never completely understand why this film is loved by many because that would require us to get into the hearts and minds of others. However, I don't think that anyone can deny that the movie was (from a technical stand point) a well made movie. There's a happy ending too, so that might sway some critics.

Is is the best? Who knows right? I guarantee if I ask a room of 100 people what's the best movie of the year, there will be no consensus. Family Feud style.

  8. I'm guessing Jordan thought that Joey was writing the post because, as I recall, Joey didn't really care for Slumdog
