FYC Ads are starting to pop up all over the web and we have some confirmations of category placements.
Maggie Gyllenhaal - Crazy Heart - LEAD
Seth Rogen - Funny People - LEAD
Meryl Streep - It's Complicated - LEAD
Alec Baldwin & Steve Martin- It's Complicated - SUPPORTING
Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince - pulling the same campaigning as "The Departed," it has it listed as For Your Consideration 'THE ACTORS'
Max Records - Where the Wild Things Are - LEAD
Tobey Maguire - Brothers - LEAD
Jake Gyllenhaal & Natalie Portman - Brothers -SUPPORTING
Probably the most surprising calls are Maggie Gyllenhaal being pushed LEAD for Crazy Heart. That hurts her chances immensely and according to many critics, not a complete fraud. Not that we were expecting it but Seth Rogen going LEAD for Funny People is a bit of a stupid move. Leslie Mann is still SUPPORTING and will nearly sit this year out. Tobey Maguire, who we've had on our radar going LEAD for Jim Sheridan's Brothers has probably destroyed his chances but now we'll keep a close eye on Jake Gyllenhaal who might be something to watch out for considering the weakness of Supporting Actor but it's looking pretty crowded already with Christoph Waltz, Alfred Molina and/or Peter Sarsgaard, Matt Damon for Invictus, and Stanley Tucci for either The Lovely Bones or Julie & Julia. Christopher Plummer is still SUPPORTING for The Last Station but a lot of people are all ready screaming 'Category Fraud.' That hurt Scarlett Johansson back in 2003 for Lost in Translation. The season is here. Look out for Oscar Prediction updates this weekend.

most of those seem like miscalculations, but we'll see...
ReplyDeleteDo you know where some of these FYC ads are? Usually Awards Daily has a special spot for them, but I don't see any of these films there.
ReplyDeleteHow will Meryl go with two films in this category? It's Complicated and and Julie & Julia?
ReplyDeletedepends on the precursors...
