    It's wide open this year. This is when the Oscar race is at its best. Hopefully, Precious will not start to dominate.

    Fingers crossed...nothing against Precious, but I'm not on the boat as much as others with it, and could see a lot of other flicks run away this year with the precursors

    Precious is the better film, and less insulting to the Oscars, so I'd go with that, even though I'm not a huge fan of it....FYI, I'm seeing The Road tomorrow morning, be jealous.

    I hate living in Durham NC. We get movies 3 weeks too late. I have nothing against Precious as well, but I'm generally against movies dominating. I felt the same way about Slumdog last year, but I have a feeling that this year will be different. Precious is bleaker than Slumdog, and my guess is that it'll turn some voters off.

    Definitely...if I had to guess what would have the most broad appeal for a sweep or something of that sort, I'd say either Up in the Air or Nine, followed by The Hurt Locker, then Precious...

    I really do not enjoy it when the categories are all pretty much locked in and already given. I like the thrill of right up to the moment not knowing just who will win, as opposed to knowing pretty well for sure who will win.

    PS. Very jealous of Joey seeing The
    Road already!

    PPS. In rural Victoria, Australia, we are very lucky if we get one showing of an art house flick like Precious in the regional cinemas. I have driven three and a half hours to see a movie before, though.
