The 2009 Black List is fully revealed!

The annual list of the best unproduced screenplays in the business hit a little while back, and now I bring it to you. The full list can be found here, and some films are already in production (like 'The Social Network', and a few others), but here's a bunch that have my eye:

The Muppet Man, The Voices, The Day Before, Mixtape, Book Smart, Betty's Ready, Take This Waltz, The Trade, Jimi, Smile Relax Attack, Good Looking, The Blind Rage of Peacoat Miller, Allies with Benefits, The Hand Job, Swingles, and The Spectacular Now.

-Which are you looking forward to?

  1. It seems like there's a lot of good stuff...

  2. "Doc and Howie Whack a Granny" has got to be one of the funniest titles I've ever heard.

  3. It's still a great list, but it's kind of gone the way of Sundance. Mostly corporate shilling with a few undiscovered indy gems.

Agents lobbying to get their client's scripts on the list, executives being pressured to vote for the script's their companies are attached to, etc. I guess that's the business.

  4. I don't think that's a completely accurate way to characterize it, since it's still created by assistants, just now it gets seen by executives, but I understand the sentiment.
