Behold our Early Reviews of Up in the Air, The Lovely Bones, and Everybody's Fine, along with a review of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee!

Yes, we have a trio of early reviews here at The Awards Circuit that aren't available in many other places. If you're curious about the Oscar chances for either Up in the Air, The Lovely Bones, or Everybody's Fine, you'd do well to read those reviews. Also, we have a new review up of the new release/Oscar hopeful indie flick The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. All these reviews can be found here, so be sure to read them and let us know what you think!

  1. Still have faith in The Lovely Bones, people who read the book dont seem to be embracing it, while others who havent read it love it

  2. That's exactly how it seems right now. So i guess the question is, how many voters read the book?

  3. Seems like I made a good decision to not start the book...I'll read it afterward I guess, same with The Road and maybe Shutter Island.

  4. I guess the academy picked the wrong year for 10 slots, 5 would be just fine.

  5. there are at least 6-8 films that have shot. I wish the Academy set it so that 10 is the max, but you don't necessarily have to pick 10 films. It avoids reaching. You just picked the films that receive X amount of votes.

    i didnt read the book.

  6. I have no problem with 10 slots, though a lot will depend on what 10 films get in...

  7. I don't like 10 for the sake of 10. It makes the competition less competitive if there aren't 10 legitimate picks. If there are 10 legitimate films, then I have no beef with 10 slots. It should be a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10, but I have no power.

  8. It's a fair point...we'll know for sure when the nominees are announced.

  9. Indeed. The Academy will find someway to mess this up.

  10. ok clayton, this is meant in the most optimistic way possible and postitive. will you do me a favor and go back and watch the lovely bones again with the novel not in your mind? I feel like you have a bias that if you moved past youd love this movie, give it a shot and if your opinion changes tweak the review?
