Behold:

-I think we have a real big contender on our hands, in a bunch of categories...thoughts?

  1. It would seem that the "country music version of The Wrestler" descriptor was fairly apt. I wonder if they're pushing a little too hard for the quality of Bridges' performance, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't expect great things from him here.

Also, anyone else spot Colin Farrell for like two seconds? I know he's in the movie, odd that they wouldn't make a point to let people know.

  2. it's their way of saying it's a serious movie...though in all seriousness, this looks great.

  3. i think it has the same potential as the wrestler.

    Actres, Actor, Screenplay. That's all...

  4. Definitely a Wrestler vibe to it, but I think that is a good thing. Bridges looks great, and I think Rourke not winning for The Wrestler only helps his chances to win Oscar, as does 10 best picture nominees.

I spotted Farrell, him in this only makes me want to see it more. I think he is a very underrated actor (In Bruges anyone?) not to mention I have a school girl crush on him :)

  6. I'm not quite sure what to think of the film yet. Bridges could be fantastic and it seems like many are praising his performance already. At this point, it's really anybody's guess as far as Best Actor is concerned. However, a nomination definitely seems likely.

I remember when the trailer for "The Wrestler" hit the internet a little earlier than this last year. I personally didn't think the trailer was very well put together but, much like "The Wrestler", "Crazy Heart" has a similar feel.

As of this point, I have my eye on this project, but I need to wait until we hear more about it.

  8. I can definitely understand that, though I liked the trailer a lot last year, but i had already read the script by that point, so that helped...

  10. While watching the trailer and without having read anything about the trailer/film or any comparisons, I was reminded of The Wrestler right down to the song playing over the top. I did see Colin Farrell in there and do wonder why his pressence wasn't highlighted more.

  11. This trailer confirms my low and flat expectations about this film, it still can be an Oscar contender, but at this point I dare say is definitely not another “The Wrestler”. That’s for sure! “The Wrestler” was my #1 last year too…

And about Bridges performance, seems like it could give lot of fight to the race…but so far in terms of trailers, unreleased films, I like more what I can see of Colin Firth or Clooney performances… I mean Bridges performance can be so predictable...

  12. Did anybody else notice Robert Duvall? I think he was the guy playing Jeff Bridges' father. Just like Colin Farrell, they only showed him for a few seconds. I guess at least its an honest trailer, showing that the movie will be only about Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal. I'm guessing that Duvall and Farrell only have cameo appearances.
