It's still a little early to predict, neo, but I agree that some of the roles that he has coming up seem more "Oscar friendly". I'm really looking forward to Shantaram, and I think that's a role that could certainly get him an Oscar win. Unfortunately filming has been delayed due to the strike.
There's also the Dillinger film that he's slated to star in. AMPAS very often rewards actors playing true-life figures.
These two roles definitely seem more "Oscar friendly".
yeah, i'm looking forward to Shantaram, The Rum Diaries, and teh John Dillinger project. Then again, he could upset this yearm but that's not as likely. I would like to see him be the numebr one unstoppable frontrunner for once though. : (
Who would you like to see be the main villain in the next Batman film?

ReplyDeleteThe last four years it went to the winner of the Oscar...five years ago was Gang's of New York.
ReplyDeleteNo love for Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee? And is it just me or did Leslie Mann not get beeped the second time!
If speeches help/hurt potential oscar winners then DDL is in trouble. My God shut up you keep blabing on and on!
this movie has nothing but positive buzz, and I think love for DDL may get it a well deserved spot in the best pic Oscar category.
ReplyDeleteseems like a lock
ReplyDeleteAJ, five years ago the BFCA Lead Actor was a tie between Jack Nicholson and Daniel Day-Lewis.
ReplyDeleteI think Depp still has a great chance. Though DDL is probably going to win, Depp is still a lock for a nomination and the most likely upset victor.
ReplyDeleteDepp definitely has the Lead Actor in Comedy/Musical win hands down at the Golden Globes unless something really bizarre happens.
ReplyDeleteeven if he doesn't win the oscar, i'm happy that depp will at least win the golden globe finally
ReplyDeletedepp is playing more oscar friendly rolse in his next projects, maybe then he'll win?
