ReplyDeleteGood picks for the list...
ReplyDeleteOK, this is what I want to say:
ReplyDeleteI think theres kinda not much to say/update about the predictions unless very very few changes... and I agree in almost everything but regarding Best Actress:Sandra Bullock winning?? wont the Academy loose a bit of credibilty?? ... I mean if there werent in her way a Overdue Meryl Streep or a Breakthrough and more complex role of Carey Mulligan in AE, it will be reasonable... her performance is not the best, im starting to think: can this camaraderie among actors can affect the result? (today for you, tomorrow for me)
Just curious why you're not predicting 'a Matter of Loaf and Death' to win best animated short. Wallace and Gromit have won every time they've been nominated the last 15 years (that's 3/3) and, honestly, 'Partly Cloudy' isn't Pixar's greatest work. Just a thought....
ReplyDeleteI saw District 9 just recently and while it was very different to the usual "aliens" film, I don't know if I can see it in the top ten, particularly over something like The Hangover, which was so popular. As you said, Avatar may pull the sci-fi vote so a second film may be stretching it. I don't even know what to make of the idea of Star Trek possibly getting in there.
ReplyDeleteBeing a film score geek to the extreme, and having a collection of over hundreds and hundreds of different scores, a fantastic website dedicated to the art of film music put up this note which, word for word, describes EXACTLY how I feel about the Best Original Score oscar.

Just curious as to the opinions of the fine bloggers here at Awards Circuit. :)
And thank you for the updates, by the way, this race is getting incredibly interesting.
ReplyDeleteNo problem Anthony...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link Anthony! I love film scores, and a decision over which film to watch has often fallen to who the composer is. I really admire a film as a whole, and sometimes when I just can't decide whether to watc A or B, it's down to the score, director, supporting actor, writer etc.
