MICHAEL GIACCHINO RECEIVES A RECORD NINE NOMINATIONS FOR 2009
-Thoughts?
I would have liked to have seen Moon and Clint Mansell here, but it's a very good group otherwise..
ReplyDeleteI remember being intrigued Mr. Alexande Desplat's score for "Birth."
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of the New Moon franchise, but now I will have to listen to its soundtrack...and stop there lol.
Fair enough...
ReplyDeleteI almost cry everytime I think of how so little recognized is my favorite composer of any genre of music ever -- Ennio Morricone -- is. His Westerns are really good, but the magic is in his dramatic music, such as his score to Baaria that's nominated, as well as the dramatic themes of The Mission and Once Upon a Time in the West, are, in my opinion, some of the greatest musical works I have ever heard. Maybe not the most intellegently written...but they're incredibly powerful and moving melodies; very memorable, and can be, if played right, the most heart-wrenching, moving, and downright spectacular pieces of music my ears have ever heard, and I've been subjected to hundreds, perhaps over a thousand film scores in my life.
ReplyDeleteAnd to think, the only recognition he's recieved from the Academy is an honorary oscar.
I'll go back to sobbing now.
At least the film music awards seems fit to appropriately nominate him.
He got an ACCA nomination on the site, so that's something...
